Summer Camps
Young Explorers
Young children have a special need for unhurried time in a natural setting. At Scout Island your child can explore a pond, find beaver-chewed stumps at a quiet lagoon, hike trails to look for signs of wildlife, and learn about the native plants and animals that make the river their home. Singing, arts and crafts, dramatic play, and plenty of hands-on activities are led by our staff of early childhood specialists. A parent or grandparent is welcome (but is not required), to stay and join the fun. Camp is held Tuesday through Thursday mornings.
Young Explorers will have the option to ride the River Camp Bus to Scout Island in the morning if an older sibling is on the bus (your confirmation letter will list a convenient location for you to meet the bus). Parents also have the option to bring their Young Explorer to Scout Island themselves. No bus service is available at the end of the morning.
