REGISTRATION BEGINS MARCH 1ST!
River Camp, hosted by the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust, provides a fun and safe place for campers of all ages to spend time at the river exploring, playing, making friends and learning about nature. The San Joaquin River is one of the most beautiful and important natural resources in our area-our water source, home to fish and wildlife, and some of our last undeveloped open space. At River Camp, children have the opportunity to experience this treasure right in their own backyard.
River Camp consists of 3 programs. Click on the program name below for more information.
River Camp at Scout Island (1st through 8th grade) - Our flagship program serving Fresno-area youth with 8 one-week sessions each summer.
Young Explorers Camp (3 1/2 through entering Kindergarten) - Our pre-K and Kindergarten mini-camp program offering Tu-Th half-day sessions for younger campers.
Junior Leaders Program (High School Students) - Our high school volunteer program for River Camp at Scout Island and Young Explorers Camp.
River Camp Firebaugh - Our newest addition to the River Camp family, serving rural youth with 4 one-week sessions each summer.
River Camp and the Junior Leaders programs are held at Scout Island, a beautiful 85-acre outdoor education facility owned and operated by the Fresno County Office of Education. The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust is proud to partner with the FCOE to bring outdoor education to the children in our community.
Beginning in 2016, the Young Explorers program will be taking place at the River Center, where participants will explore the Hidden Homes trail, create arts and crafts, engage in dramatic play, and more.
Parent volunteers are welcome at River Camp! Available volunteer positions include staffing the first aid table and acting as lifeguard assistants. Click here or call 559-248-8480 ext 104 for details.
