Alex Strobl has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with an emphasis in Geospatial Information Science (GIS) and Remote Sensing from the University of California Santa Barbara. In addition to taking courses on California geography and environment, he also took courses on Environmental Decision Making and Urban Planning and completed his senior thesis project on tracking glacial retreat in the Himalayas through the use of satellite imagery. Alex joined the Trust in 2012 as the GIS Specialist, with the responsibility of finishing the initial mapping for the Invasive Weed Removal Project, and later worked as the Field Manager. He now serves as the Project Manager, managing the removal efforts and habitat restoration along the San Joaquin River. Alex is also an outdoors enthusiast, spending a lot of his spare time hiking, camping, and traveling.
