River Buddies Preschool Programs 
One and one-half hour field trips for children ages 3,4, and 5

RESPITE BY THE RIVER: Readings by Central Valley Authors
Take a break from the rush of everyday life and experience a Respite by the River. Readings and performances related to life in California’s Central Valley promises witty, wistful, touching and tranquil moments. Enjoy beautiful sunsets, birdsong and good company. Tim Z. Hernandez will be reading from his most recent project, a novel of historical fiction that is rooted in the Central Valley in the 1930's and 1940's. It is a story that is based on the life of Bea Franco, a Selma farmworker who became the unlikely muse for one of America's most revered writers, Jack Kerouac. Please join us on this rare occasion to preview Hernandez's latest endeavor, and to hear how this book went from an initial idea to a four year research project that included Valley historians, journalists, a literary mafia, one private investigator, and a handful of good folk. The author will have his other books available for purchase and signing.
