“In this business, you can never wash the dinner dishes and say they are done. You have to keep doing them constantly.”
-Mary Wells Lawrence, advertising executive
This 16th edition of Parties for the Parkway is offered as we celebrate our 20th year as an organization. In 1988, a dozen community volunteers began with a wish and, within a year, they had a wish and a plan. We’ve been busy ever since as we implement the vision of the San Joaquin River Parkway through protecting land, building trails, and connecting people to nature. Parties for the Parkway plays a key role in providing our organization with essential toolscommunity involvement and financial resourcesthat we need to further our mission. In our early years, we discovered our supporters have unique talents for crafting good times and special memories to help fill the river bank. Thus, the art of Parkway merry-making has become a wheel on fire for advancing the San Joaquin River Parkway. So, grab the one you’re with and head for a Party, there’s no time to lose!
Thank you to all who make Parties an exciting fundraising success for our cause!

HOW PARTIES FOR THE PARKWAY WORKS
This 2008 PARTIES FOR THE PARKWAY book contains 71 parties! REMEMBER - RIVER PARKWAY TRUST MEMBERS RECEIVE REDUCED PRICING. If you are not a member and would like to take advantage of this discount, you may become a member at the same time you reserve your parties. Reservations for Parties begin at the Kickoff Party on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
After March 6, reservations will be available online at www.riverparkway.org. Reservations will also be accepted by mail. For additional information or questions regarding parties, there is a Parties for the Parkway ‘party phone number.’ Many of the parties are limited in the number of reservations that can be taken. In the event you need to cancel your reservation, refunds can ONLY be offered if a cancellation is made at least 30 days prior to your party date. Your prompt cancellation may allow another person on the waiting list to attend; your courtesy is appreciated.
Reservations are accepted and filled in the order payment is received. You will receive a confirmation notice upon our receipt of payment. Specific directions and information will be mailed to you approximately 10 days prior to your party.
Thank you for supporting Parties for the Parkway. Your generosity helps us to continue “Creating and Protecting the San Joaquin River Parkway for Everyone.” We want this to be a fun and memorable experience for you and we will be glad to assist you with any needs or questions you may have.

Celebrate with us!
This year, we’re celebrating 20 years of creating and protecting the San Joaquin River Parkway.
It’s a time to reflect and to rest on our laurels just a little bit, with approximately 3,500 acres of land along the San Joaquin River protected, more than half of the 6,000 acres set forth in the San Joaquin River Parkway Plan and more than 6 miles of trail completed.
But there are more lands to save, more trails to build, and more children to guide toward becoming good stewards of our precious natural resources. It takes many hands to establish a parkway and, in the end, it comes down to all of us working together to create a lasting legacy for the future, one that will contribute to clear water and clean air, a healthy environment for everyone in the Fresno/Madera region.
Thank you for supporting Parties for the Parkway and, if you aren’t currently a member of the River Parkway Trust, join us in 2008, our 20th Anniversary year!
