Merced and San Luis Wildlife Refuge Walk

Join guide Judy J. to explore the migratory birds of the San Luis Wildlife Refuge, and to observe the Tule Elk. This is a full day trip, lasting until approximately 3 pm. We will carpool to several sites to explore different areas, and will walk up to 3 miles over the course of the day. Hikes will be easy and slow moving, with breaks and travel time in between. We will move slowly, taking the opportunity to oberserve various native and migratory bird species and practicing bird identification skills. Please dress appropriately (long pants, closed toed shoes, etc.) and bring a sack lunch and binoculars

Guide Judy Johnson is a retired entomologist and avid birder who has been leading nature walks for the River Parkway Trust for several years.

We will meet at 7:45 am at the Starbucks on the corner of Herndon and Milburn. Good hiking shoes and binoculars are recommended, leader(s) will have some binoculars for loan.
