Education Docent Training - Fresno 3rd Grade Trips

Registration is closed for this event
The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our River Field Trip Education Programs. If you’re interested in bringing youth together with nature by becoming an Education Docent, join us at this workshop to learn more!

This training introduces Education Docents to the various educational programs offered by the River Parkway Trust and prepares them to assist with field trips at the River Center and Lost Lake Park. Field trips typically take place from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm on weekdays throughout the school year.

The activities covered in this training will be those geared toward our Fresno Unified 3rd Grade programs, though participation will prepare new docents to assist with any of our 1st-5th grade field trips.

Topics of this training will include:

  • Program orientation
  • Leading a field trip / group management
  • Demostrations of field trip activity kits
  • How to set up a field trip (demonstrated at the River Center)
  • Leading a nature walk (demonstrated at Lost Lake Park)

The majority of the training will be spent at the River Center.  For on-site demonstrations, we will carpool to Lost Lake Park.  Please dress appropriately and be prepared to spend most of the morning outdoors.  Snacks will be provided for participants.
