Wildflower Walk at the Gorge

Join guide Frank H. to view the spectacular spring wildflowers and other wildlife present throughout the San Joaquin River Gorge in Auberry, CA.  Guide Frank Helling is a retired educator who is passionate about connecting the community to our natural environment. 

We will be meeting at the trail head parking lot in the San Joaquin River Gorge Special Recreation Management Area (SMRA). The visitor’s center, located at 40060 Smalley Rd, Auberry, is the closest address that will give an accurate location. To get to the Gorge from Auberry, head north on Powerhouse road and turn left onto Smalley Rd.  Follow Smalley Rd for about 6 miles.

Please dress appropriately and bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Good hiking shoes and binoculars are recommended; leader(s) will have some binoculars for loan.

Children 10+ welcome. Large groups and organizations please contact the number below to schedule a private hike.
